Toyota is preparing to enter the elite supercar arena once again with the upcoming GR GT, a machine engineered to rival icons from Ferrari and Porsche. Set for release around 2027, the high-performance model is built to push the boundaries of speed, aerodynamics, and hybrid engineering.

The prototype, revealed earlier this month, showcases a dramatic low-center-of-gravity layout inspired by road-legal racing technology. With a two-seat, rear-wheel-drive configuration, the GR GT marks the newest flagship under Toyota’s Gazoo Racing brand.

Powering the supercar is a brand-new hybrid system combining a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine with a single electric motor. Toyota estimates that the output will exceed 650 horsepower, enabling the car to reach or surpass a blistering 320 kph.

Its dimensions—4,820 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, and 1,195 mm in height—emphasize track-oriented proportions. Toyota has yet to announce pricing, but expectations are high given the model’s placement alongside legendary nameplates.

The GR GT follows the legacy of the Toyota 2000GT and Lexus LFA, two limited-production models that left a lasting mark on automotive history. Toyota also unveiled prototypes of the GR GT3 and the all-electric Lexus LFA Concept, signaling a broad future vision for performance engineering.
